№ 01Origin

It started with one question,
asked by an eight-year-old.

In December 2012, an eight-year-old in San Jose couldn’t stop thinking about kids who might wake up to nothing on Christmas morning. He asked his parents the question every founder eventually asks themselves, just earlier than most.

“What happens to the kids who don’t get any toys?”
Joey Childs · aged eight · December 2012

That question turned into a single truckload of donations. Thirteen years later, it has become the work of more than 120 partner companies, hundreds of volunteers, and a leadership team that has refused to let the answer change.

Every Christmas, the same idea: no child in our community should wake up to nothing.
