Joey’s Toy Drive is a Bay Area volunteer-run toy drive, in the final stages of formalizing 501(c)(3) status. This policy explains what information we collect from people who visit joeystoydrive.org, email or call us, donate toys, or host a workplace drive — and what we do with it.
Short version: we collect very little, we don’t sell or trade it, and we keep it only as long as it’s useful to running the drive.
What we collect
From this website: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer) that our hosting provider records automatically. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse. We do not run third-party advertising trackers and do not sell this information.
When you contact us: if you email info@joeystoydrive.org or call (408) 244-0400, we collect what you tell us — your name, your organization, the contents of your message. We use it to reply and to coordinate the drive.
When you host a drive: we collect contact info for the people running the drive at your workplace, school, or community group, plus delivery logistics. We use it to send collection boxes, schedule pickups, and confirm distribution. We keep it until the drive season ends.
When you ship a toy via Amazon Wishlist: Amazon sees your information — not us. We only see the toys that show up at the warehouse. Amazon’s own privacy policy governs your shopping account.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the operational partners who need it to run the drive:
- Silicon Valley Moving & Storage — addresses and contact info needed for collection-box delivery and pickup logistics.
- Partner nonprofits, schools, and parishes — only the operational details needed for distribution scheduling.
- Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our authentication / database provider (Supabase) — standard infrastructure providers, bound by their own enterprise privacy commitments.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for marketing.
Cookies & analytics
We use first-party cookies only as needed for site functionality (for example, remembering a session if you eventually create an account). We do not run third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future (anonymous traffic measurement), this policy will be updated with what tool we use and how to opt out.
Children’s privacy
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The toys we deliver are to children through the families and partner organizations they belong to — the children themselves aren’t our website’s audience.
Your rights
Under California law (CCPA and successors), California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about them. Email info@joeystoydrive.org with the subject “Privacy request.” We’ll respond within 45 days.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when something material changes — new providers, new collection practices, or new applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
